Blink Anything TUT

Have you ever wondered how to make blinking lights. Or blinking anything for that matter.

blink

Join me for a super fast tutorial.

Follow up:

Open the xpresso editor.
Put a time-node and set it to output in frames.
Add two math nodes, the first set to Modulo, the second set to Divide.
Connect a constant to the second port of both math-nodes. This constant will set the delay at which to blink (in frames).
Now comes the magic part, the Flip-Flop-node. Connect the output of the second math node to the Flip-Flop.
That is it actually!
Connect the output of the flip flop to anything you want, this can be visibility in the renderer, or brightness of a light, or a color channel of a texture, whatever.

Here is the setup;

blink-xpresso

The Flip-Flop, when triggered, changes from 0 to 1 and back. In this case the trigger is the time with some stuff attached.

Great tip... But why do you have the second math node? It works just the same with only using Modulo

the second math node divides the result of the modulo by the given number. Lets say modulo counts to 5, well I need to divide this by 5 to get 1

Im trying to apply this to a christmas lights set. Im using the luminance and the glow to achive this, but got two problems (Im new to this sorry):

1.- The luminance witch I have set to 1700% after I use this formula it sets automaticaly to 100% and I cant modify the values after that.
Is there a way to use the value 1700% that I had before this?

2.- Im making a Christmas lights so I would like to make 3 materials with similar settings to start this function at three differnt times. The first one turn on first then it turn off, then the sccond material turn on and then off after a few frames and the third the same, just to start this cycle over again.

Sorry for the english.

I hope you could help.

This page is the best. You are helping a lot of people.

you have to do the tutorial again. this thing works for Christmas light and of course you can contact me to do the setup for you for a price.
There is no way this tutorial changes your texture what so ever.
