Trampoline Tut1

Here is another tutorial about the size factor of the Clothilde tag.
The trampoline is just one possible example for demonstrating tension in a membrane.
We will also make a sphere bounce in the trampoline and get the membrane to adapt to the collision.

trampoline

Follow up:

Lets get started with a plane and a sphere.
Leave the plane as default, 400x400 with 20x20 segments. We need enough segments to get the right look of the membrane and not to many as to keep some speed in the calculations.
Convert both objects to polygons (C)
Add a Clothilde tag to the plane and a Cloth collision tag to the sphere as seen below.

hierarchy

Now select the corners and the middle points of the sides of the plane in point mode and click on the "Set" button the Fix-Points in the Clothilde tag. The points will show pink if all went well.

fix-points

Go to the tag pane of Clothilde and set "size" to 70%.

size

Basically that is it, hit F8 to see the tension in the membrane set itself, you can fine tune the size factor as it plays.

Now select the sphere with the collision tag and move it up and down on the membrane, you will see the membrane adapt to the impact of the sphere.

in 10.5 -> is the collision tag that is applied to the sphere called a 'collider tag'? can't seem to find a 'collision tag'.
+ is the sphere then keyframed?
I've used the 'collider tag' on the sphere and animated with keyframes, but the sphere goes through the cloth.

thx

all the objects must be polygonal (not primitive)
And yes I probably made a typo on the tags name, sorry. So yes it is a 'collider tag', but everybody would have figured that out.

thought it might have been the same thing, just making sure + yes my objects have been made editable. the cloth behaves with the size set to 70. this is fine. I attach a collider tag to the sphere keyframe it out of the cloth and then into the cloth. press f8 and sphere goes through cloth. I've also tried this flipping the plane around incase it was a problem with the normals... ...but still the same thing happens.

i had the same problem with the ball going trough. but if you put dynimcs on you ball make it a rigid body with collisiontag on the trampoline it should work, only problem is you won't be able to animate your ball freely

those really are excellent graphics of trampolines in action.
